Backlash adjustment is part of the drive's service plan.

Taizhou Jiaoxing's JDLB duplex worm reducer allows mesh clearance to be adjusted by moving the worm axially. Its JHG helical-hypoid family offers another right-angle drive route. For indexing, reversing or a replacement installation, specify both the machine's operating duty and how the selected assembly will be set, inspected and maintained.

Precision duplex worm reduction

Different leads let the worm's position change mesh clearance.

The JDLB page explains that the two worm tooth flanks have different leads, producing a gradual change in tooth thickness. Moving the worm changes the mesh clearance. The supplier says clearance can be reset after the reducer has been in service.

It lists an ultra-precision output-backlash option of 1 arcmin and a precision option of 2–4 arcmin, and describes adjustment to below 1 arcmin. Agree the selected grade, adjustment state and measurement conditions on the order.

The official product description places the servo input at 90° to the output. It also describes linking worm inputs so one motor can drive multiple worm-wheel outputs. Obtain the complete linked arrangement's drawing and load calculation rather than selecting each output independently.

Define the setting and inspection procedure before delivery.

The supplier describes servo-specific input couplings, motor-flange options, a taper-clamping output connection, preloaded tapered-roller supports and synthetic-oil lubrication. These features need selected-model assembly and inspection instructions.

Confirm the interfaces

Motor shaft/flange drawing, output bore/clamping arrangement, driven-shaft support and mounting datums. Agree fit, alignment, fastening and assembly access.

02 · At acceptance

Measure the agreed clearance

Define temperature, measurement load, output reference and method. Request the selected unit's recorded result and the supplier-approved adjustment procedure.

03 · In service

Recheck under the real duty

Agree inspection intervals, permitted adjustment range and authorized procedure. Include thermal behaviour, torque, noise and accuracy checks after adjustment.

Low clearance still needs an operating check.

A clearance setting is not a complete machine-accuracy specification. Include coupling, output support and structural compliance, load reversals and the controller in the axis error budget.

For a rotary indexer, send move angle, acceleration, dwell, load versus angle and inertia. For a linked drive, include shaft/coupling layout, load distribution, torsional compliance and synchronization requirements.

Use the manufacturer's setting procedure. Specify safe holding/stopping and power-loss behaviour separately where gravity or stored energy can drive the mechanism.

The first stage uses hypoid gearing. Jiaoxing describes external dimensions close to its JMRV worm range, the same hollow-output diameter and use of JMRV accessories. Those are supplier compatibility descriptions; compare the exact selected drawings before calling a unit interchangeable.

Geometry and rotation

Input/output shafts, pilot and mounting holes, centre distances, height, accessory clearances and input/output rotation. Provide the old nameplate and drawing together.

Load and heat

Required output speed/torque, external forces, starts and operating hours. Request mechanical and thermal ratings for the selected stage/ratio and mounting position.

Function and protection

Holding/back-driving behaviour, motor/control compatibility and stopping requirements. A change of gearing architecture needs these functions checked explicitly.

Supplier's selection guidance

State the duty before agreeing the service factor.

The JDLB page defines rated torque for continuous smooth operation at service factor f_s = 1. Its selection guidance says the factor depends on load type, operating hours per day and starts per hour.

It also refers to the reflected load-inertia/motor-inertia ratio and directs buyers with ratios above 10 to technical support. Supply the actual inertias and gearing reference rather than choosing a factor from the application name alone.

Steady and transient loads

Separate running torque, acceleration, reversal, jams and stopping. Include duration and repetition so the supplier can select the size, ratio and permissible peak duty.

Temperature and installation

Ambient, mounting, enclosure/ventilation and continuous/intermittent running. Agree lubricant and thermal limits under that arrangement.

Precision under load

Required position/repeatability at the driven component, load-induced deflection and clearance after the agreed setting. Define how the assembled machine will be accepted.

The national standards platform names 台州椒星传动设备有限公司 among the drafting organizations for JB/T 15305-2025, square RV-series worm reducers, effective 1 July 2026. This concerns worm-reducer standardization; it does not certify JDLB backlash or JHG capacity.

For qualification, obtain the current supplying entity and site, selected type code, drawing revision, material/process and inspection records, adjustment instructions and after-sales scope. Ask for model-specific torque/speed ratings and allowable external loads with the operating conditions.
