Robot joint transmissionQinchuan
Build the reducer into the joint.
Cable routing, output support and the motion cycle change the right reducer choice. Qinchuan's robot transmission portfolio includes hollow, compact, special-interface and high-speed designs, alongside integrated assemblies. Start with the joint architecture before comparing a catalog torque range.
Choose by the space and motion
Different joints ask different questions.
The current official robot-reducer page publishes separate illustrated sheets. The distinctions below follow those sheets rather than treating every RV reducer as interchangeable.
Robot joint, positioner or rotary mechanism
The E sheet describes multi-tooth engagement and preload/matched assembly to control clearance. It identifies industrial robots, automation, positioners and machine-tool rotary/tool mechanisms as applications.
A hollow route through the axis
The C sheet describes an internal hollow structure for cables and reduced installation space. This makes the routing envelope part of selection, alongside torque and the mounting interface.
Required clear passage, cable bundle, bend radius and rotation limits.
Read the C-series sheet ↗Compact packaging or a special interface
N is presented as an integrated raceway design for compactness and lower mass. F is described around special customer interface dimensions. Compare the selected drawings instead of assuming the same frame name gives the same installation.
A faster drive or travel axis
The high-speed BX sheet identifies BX40GS/BX100GS and applications including AGV drives, robot travel axes and lifting axes. Its speed and precision values differ from the E/C/N sheets.
Continuous/intermittent speed, travel duty and braking arrangement.
Read the high-speed BX sheet ↗Reducer, flange and input shaft in one assembly
The integrated-unit sheet describes a sealed grease-filled assembly with the reducer, flange and input shaft combined. Non-standard flange interfaces can be specified. This changes who designs and supplies the surrounding parts.
Motor connection, assembly boundary, sealing and installation instructions.

Keep a range separate from a selected operating point.
Qinchuan's sheets provide family envelopes. They help choose a documentation route; they do not tell you that one frame reaches every listed extreme.
| Official sheet | Ratio envelope | Nominal torque envelope | Rated output speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| E series | 57–256 | 167–4,410 Nm | 15 rpm |
| C series · hollow | 27–284 | 98–8,820 Nm | 15 rpm |
| N series · compact | 41–284.4 | 245–7,000 Nm | 15 rpm |
| High-speed BX · GS | 21–42.05 | Obtain selected-model data | 50 rpm |
These are the values on the separate official sheets reviewed here. Request a frame-and-ratio rating with duty, ambient conditions and bearing-load basis before design approval. The high-speed sheet does not provide a nominal torque envelope, so no value is filled in from another family.
Speed: rated, continuous and intermittent
The GS sheet separately lists 50 rpm rated output speed, 150 rpm permitted continuous output speed and 250 rpm permitted intermittent output speed. Send the time at speed and applied load; the intermittent figure does not describe uninterrupted operation at rated load.
Precision: three different measurements
E, C and N sheets list lost motion and backlash each at ≤1 arcmin, and transmission accuracy at ≤50 arcsec. The high-speed GS sheet lists lost motion and backlash at ≤6 arcmin. Keep these measurements separate and agree how the selected assembly will be tested.
The E/C/N sheets list a rated life of at least 6,000 h. Ask for the rated-load and duty basis, and the life calculation for your complete cycle. Catalog life is not a promise that any peak-load application will operate for that duration.
Company identity
Robot reducers within a machine-tool group.
The official subsidiary page says Qinchuan developed its RV reducer in 2014 and began batch production and sales in 2017. It describes the dedicated high-precision transmission subsidiary as formed at the end of 2022 around the group's robot-reducer operating assets.
The group's 2026 half-year report confirms the legal entity, Baoji manufacturing location and 100% direct holding at that reporting date. This is company-identity evidence; the parent group's other businesses do not become product ratings for this reducer.
The official custom-reducer sheet outlines application review, scheme design, drawing confirmation, prototype manufacture, performance testing and batch production. For a custom joint, use these stages to agree deliverables and sign-off responsibility before tooling.

Before the assembly drawing
Define what rotates, what supports and what passes through.
A robot reducer enquiry becomes useful when it shows the surrounding joint. These decisions need the selected supplier drawing and the machine designer's load cases.
Output support and load path
Show the driven flange, payload, center of mass and overhung geometry. Provide radial and axial forces and overturning moment for each important pose. Agree whether the chosen reducer's bearings carry these loads or an independent support is required.
Input gear and motor boundary
Identify the motor, pinion/input arrangement, mating gear requirements, shaft engagement and encoder/brake location. Confirm the total installed reduction ratio and direction of rotation using the selected assembly definition.
Hollow-axis routing
For C, send the cable/hose envelope, installation clearance, bend radius and allowed rotation. Include service loops, strain relief and the requirements of any slip ring or rotary connection. Keep moving cables away from gear and fastener envelopes.
Lubrication and assembly responsibility
The integrated sheet describes grease-filled sealing. For a component unit, ask which seals, lubricant, housing and assembly operations the buyer supplies. Agree cleanliness, fastening, preload, installation orientation and access for service.
Make the prototype test answer the machine question.
A positioner, a robot joint and a travel axis use different load cycles. Submit the complete torque/speed/time profile, acceleration and deceleration peaks, exceptional stops, number of reversals and intended operating hours. Ask for selection of the frame and ratio together with bearing support and thermal assumptions.
For a positioning axis, specify loaded error, repeatability and compliance at the tool or payload, not only reducer backlash. Separate lost-motion, backlash and transmission-accuracy tests in the inspection schedule. Record test load, direction, temperature and measurement method with each result.
For a non-standard interface or integrated assembly, approve the prototype drawing before manufacture. Define prototype running tests, dimensional inspection, lubricant/sealing checks and installation checks, followed by the documents needed for repeat orders. Keep the approved drawing revision and unit identification with the machine's maintenance records.
Send the joint drawing, not just the robot payload.
