GUOMAO: select the drive architecture before replacing a reducer

GUOMAO's official site separates geared motors, industrial gearboxes and cycloidal reducers. For an existing conveyor, mixer or process machine, the useful starting point is the installed shaft arrangement and duty. A reducer with the same ratio can still have a different mounting envelope, load capacity or maintenance requirement.

Keep the geared motor, industrial gearbox and cycloidal choices separate

The official product overview includes GR helical geared motors and HB industrial gearboxes, alongside cycloidal reducers. These are architecture choices rather than interchangeable model names.

The manufacturer's broad product portfolio does not establish a single torque or ratio limit. Compare the selected series and assembly, not a combined company-wide maximum.

Survey the installed drive before requesting a like-for-like replacement

For a retrofit, take a nameplate photograph and measure the motor-side and machine-side connections. Record foot or flange mounting, shaft center height, available envelope, shaft diameter and engagement length. If the old unit has been modified, include those changes on the drawing; a nameplate alone describes the original supply, not necessarily the machine today.

Measure operating input and output speed and explain the driven machine. If the motor is variable-speed, include its speed range and how long the machine runs at each operating point. Send the continuous load and the frequency of starting, stopping and shock events. Selecting a ratio first can hide the more important question of how much torque and bearing load the assembly must carry.

Check rotation direction and any backstop before removing the old unit. On an inclined conveyor, a reverse-running constraint belongs in the selection brief and installation plan. Do not assume an optional anti-reverse component shown for one GUOMAO range is fitted to every supplied assembly.

Three items that prevent an incomplete quotation

Motor and gearbox boundary

State whether you need a gearbox only, a complete geared motor or a replacement motor adapter. Identify voltage, frequency, control method and motor mounting. This prevents quotations that look comparable but supply different parts of the drive.

Machine loads and foundation

For a pulley, sprocket or mixer connection, give the radial/axial load and its distance from the shaft support. For a separate HB unit, request the foundation and coupling alignment requirements with the final arrangement drawing.

Oil, cooling and maintenance

Describe ambient temperature, operating hours, contamination and access for oil filling and draining. Ask for the lubrication and service instructions for the actual orientation, plus the included cooling components. Do not transfer an oil quantity from a different housing arrangement.

Input and output speeds, continuous load, starts per hour, shock/reversal events and external shaft loads.
Required gearbox-only or geared-motor scope, motor electrical specification, backstop and cooling requirements.
Quantity, installation constraints and a request for the full order code, rating calculation, arrangement drawing and lubrication instructions.
