For a compact DC drive, the gearbox ratio is only part of the selection. Dongzheng's 90JW/60JX/60ZY pairs a permanent-magnet DC motor with planetary and worm reduction. Compare the actual motor, output speed, torque and installation length in the same configuration.

Six operating points, not one “maximum torque” claim.

The official table links each output rating to a motor designation and two reduction stages. The published 14 rpm combination is rated at 9 Nm; the 2 rpm combination is rated at 20 Nm. Selecting a larger ratio does not turn the whole family into a higher-torque unit.

Transcribed from the manufacturer's 90JW/60JX/60ZY table. These are the published nominal ratios: 25 × 4.25 is 106.25, while the table prints 106. Obtain the selected unit's exact reduction and loaded-speed tolerance if positioning or timing depends on it.

Specify the load sequence

Provide torque at the driven shaft, required loaded speed, run/rest periods, starts and reversals. Include stalls, end stops and shock events. Ask for the applicable duty and thermal limits for the chosen motor/gear combination; the six-column table does not define one universal run cycle.

Keep motor variants attached to their ratings

The 8 and 6 rpm entries use the 60ZY105-2430, while the 4 rpm entry uses 60ZY105-2420. The 2 rpm entry uses a shorter 60ZY75-2430 motor with a longer planetary section. Do not interpolate output speed from ratio alone across these different motors.

Confirm shaft direction and the two variable lengths.

The official drawing marks motor length as L and planetary gearbox length as L1. These are separate portions of the assembly, not overall installed length. The product notes identify left-hand output as standard, with right-hand output requested at ordering.

Show the surrounding mechanism

Include shaft-side clearance, mounting feet/holes, coupling or pulley, external radial/axial loads and the distance from the gearbox support to the load. State output-side orientation unambiguously using a drawing view.

For a replacement, measure the complete installed envelope and terminal/cable access. Agree the output shaft fit and key, fasteners, mounting surface and coupling alignment. A similar-looking 90JW housing does not confirm the same motor or reduction assembly.

The electrical side of the enquiry

Define what the power supply and controller must do.

The cited assembly uses a permanent-magnet DC motor. Specify electrical and control requirements alongside the gearbox load cycle.

Supply under load

Give the actual supply voltage range, supply/current limits, cable length and operating temperature. Request the selected motor's rated current, start/stall current, winding data and speed/torque characteristic. Do not use the model suffix alone as an electrical datasheet.

Speed and reversal control

Describe fixed or variable speed, the controller/PWM arrangement, loaded-speed tolerance and reversal sequence. Agree how the drive handles deceleration and exceptional stops and how the machine detects an overload or end of travel.

Feedback and interfaces

The broader official portfolio lists position/velocity sensors and specialized products. If feedback is needed, ask which sensor can be integrated into the selected assembly, where it measures motion, its signal interface and what mounting/cable changes it requires.

Holding and service life

For a load that must stay in position, specify the required holding function and obtain unit-specific guidance for backdriving and braking. Agree maintenance access and life/test conditions for the actual motor and gearbox. A worm stage alone is not a stated safety holding specification.

Match the proposed unit to your environment and operating requirements.

Turn capability into order deliverables

The official gallery also labels gear processing and automated handling equipment. For an OEM order, specify the motor winding/electrical checks, gearbox dimensional inspection, assembled no-load and loaded running tests and the agreed noise/test conditions. Link the results to the supplied configuration and order revision.
